Of the family Rosaceae and the genus Rubus, raspberry is a fruit shaped conical or rounded, consisting of an aggregate of drupes, of variable color from pink to purple.

The raspberry, like the majority of Rosaceae, requires the accumulation of a certain number of hours of cold to induce the process of flowering (vernalization). Agronomically can differ in:

-Reflorecientes, biferos or remontantes: whose stems fruiting in the transition from summer to autumn, depending on the date of planting or regrowth, without the need for hours of cold, and return to bloom in the spring of the following year after accumulating hours of cold during the winter.

-Not reflorecientes, uniferos or non-remontantes: these varieties bear fruit once a year, although it is possible to obtain, with early planting two crops at a single plant: the first, at the end of autumn, for which the plant has had to earn previously cold; and the second, during the transition from spring to summer, since the plant accumulates enough hours of cold during the winter so they induce again bloom.

The use of different varieties remontantes as Erika and Polka and not remontantes as Glen Lyon and Glen Ample, as well as staggered planting dates allows us to supply the markets this product from September to June.
